What we repeatedly think about affects how we see the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

What we give our attention to grows in importance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our actions have consequences, sometimes long after we have forgotten the choices that produced them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Certain patterns seem to return until we understand something about them.<\/span><\/p>\n

And sometimes we encounter experiences that make us wonder whether there are deeper laws at work\u2014laws that operate whether or not we understand them, just as the laws of nature operate whether or not we know their names.<\/span><\/p>\n

Living Laws is an exploration of those possibilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t a publication about adopting a particular belief system. It isn\u2019t about telling you what you should believe, and it isn\u2019t an attempt to provide easy answers to life\u2019s difficult questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, it begins with a different proposition:<\/span><\/p>\n

What if some of the deepest truths about life can be discovered by observing life itself?
<\/strong>
Here we explore questions about thought, intention, consequence, freedom, responsibility, relationships, nature, consciousness, suffering, joy, meaning and the mysterious fact of existence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some ideas may seem familiar. Others may challenge assumptions we have carried for years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The invitation is simply to consider them.<\/span><\/p>\n

And then to look.<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at your own thoughts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at your choices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at the patterns in your relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at what repeatedly enters\u2014and leaves\u2014your life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at what happens when you change something within yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

You may find that an idea doesn\u2019t correspond with your experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s valuable too.<\/span><\/p>\n

The aim isn\u2019t agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is <\/span>observation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because perhaps the most interesting spiritual questions aren\u2019t the ones we can answer intellectually, but the ones we can investigate through the way we live.<\/span><\/p>\n

Read with an open mind.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question everything.<\/span><\/p>\n

And whenever possible, test the idea against your own experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t have to take my word for it.

See for yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n
