After years of feeling lost at school and fearing that the world had nothing to offer, Iain’s love for design came started to emerge slowly for many years until he discovered the perfect university course: Graphic Design at Glasgow College of Printing. After years of studying, then working a 9-5 job, Iain realised that the level of life and creative freedom was limited working for “the man”. Over the space of the last 20 years, he has been able to transition from getting the occasional freelance client for a bit of pocket money to growing a multiple 6-figure business that he can have complete control over and charge the industries highest project fees.

Most Designers Are Working Backwards…
They focus on imitating the people who they perceive to be successful in the market, instead of redefining their space and providing 10x more value for their clients compared the rest of their marketplace. There is a huge myth in the design space that you just have to knuckle down for years, slave away for free to start out, get the experience, continually deliver amazing work then you will make it to the top of the design food chain. It just isn’t the case…
But Iain argues the only three things that matter are generating sales meetings with prospects, conducting sales meetings in a way that results in the prospect making an informed decision in their best interest, and providing them with more value than anyone else in your space. Today, Iain helps designers break out of the over-saturated & highly competitive design spaces (product, web, UI, UX, architecture, building, graphic etc…) and find untapped markets where qualified (have the money) prospects are waiting for you to get in front of them.
Working with designers specifically to figure out what goals they have for their professional life and then developing the mindset and technical skills they need to achieve these goals.
Once your goals have been identified, you work together to develop the exact steps you need to confidently and actively answer questions like:
- Who is your ideal customer?
- What is the biggest and most valuable problem they have in their lives that you can solve?
- Why do clients work with you over the thousands of other options in the market?
- Exactly how many meetings you we need to have on our calendars each week?
- Exactly how many clients do you need?
- How are you going to get those clients?
- How much is it going to cost to get new and ideal clients?
- How much time is it going to take?
- What do you need to learn?
- What do you need to say?
- How is your sales process structured?
These questions are important to have the answers to. Once you have strong answers to these questions, you are ready to grow rapidly.
